Ready to camp?

I really wanted to Attend the Southern Indiana vintage camper rally, on June 13-16, 20013, but thought the "Sew What" wasn't ready to go.  The hosts encouraged me to "throw a mattress inside, pack a cooler and come anyway. So I did!

On Monday,  Elizabeth, Uncle Ron and I busted butt working on it. We pulled out the ugly mauve and grey indoor outdoor carpet, built a floor for the refrigerator, built seats for the dinette benches and back bed, with piano hinges, so they lift easily.  Elizabeth ran multiple trips to Small's Pro Hardware for supplies. We cleaned the under, in and out sides of all cabinets.  Oh, how filthy they were and filled with rodent and insect remains.

My brother, Steve, came over to work on the electric.   I need a new plug on the outside to plug into the electric at the campsite,  new wiring to the fuse box, 2 new wall plugs. The parts didn't work, so the electric will come later.

Jackie was busy making cushions for the dinette and back bench at the Costume Gallery-Newport.  My colors are yellow and blue.

The "Sew What" is clean and has the first coat of paint inside cabinets and bench seats, so I thought I was making head way. Surprises were in store for me.   When I uncovered the floor under the back bench, which was covered in Oil Cloth,  I saw a rotten floor.  I could see through to the ground.

Light Wiring

I brought the Sew What camper on Saturday, April 19th, 2013.  After the title transfer and bank transaction, I took the camper to my friend Terri's house in Williamsburg, Ohio.  This was the first time I had pulled a trailer since, the 1970's.  I did really well.

Terri's brother-in-law and husband put new wiring in and under the trailer for the lights.

Hooked up and ready to go.
Lights need to be replaced and new wiring put in.
